Book Chapter 1 - Getting Started
I love the idea of vlogging about reading and plan to fully implement it next year but will be certain to follow the ideas provided in this chapter regarding modeling and creating anchor charts of SOP’s. Having the students reflect on what they learned and asking questions is a great way to assess their learning and her suggestion about having the book club groups record their sessions so I don’t have to meet with them each time is marvelous. It is important to have the students “play” with the technology before using it for content to wear the novelty off just as important it is to conference with the students using the technology so that they are utilizing the resource in the best way. Again, none of these activities requires leaving best practices behind it simply provides new opportunity in the classroom. Moreover, having access to such technology to teach and learn with ultimately gives the teacher a different view into the minds of her students and their learning.
